Like many in the midwest, we were hit by the snowstorm over the weekend. While we didn’t get the foot of snow that other cities are dealing with, we still got enough ice and snow to ensure that most everyone stayed at home for the past few days. That meant trying to stay productive when all I really wanted to do was nap and drink cocoa.
Between my ADHD and recovering from burnout, finding the motivation to be creative is difficult. However, I was able to write up a chapter of a story I’ve started working on and bake banana bread and sourdough focaccia. Both of which turned out better than I expected. It was a reminder that creativity is not only about making art. It is any act of creation, and it does us a disservice to limit our creativity. This blog serves as a reminder of that. That this and many other things are creative outlets.
Rest is also important though because, even if we enjoy it, creation is an act of work. As the world rests and slumbers in the cold winter snows, it is a good time for us to rest and refresh ourselves so that we sprout bright and renewed once the spring thaw comes. With that, I am going to cuddle up and do some reading. I hope that you all are also able to enjoy some rest during this time.
